Apple To Launch An iOS Powered TV This Fall

Daily Tech is reporting that an Apple branded TV will launch later this year.  Their source, who is a former Apple executive, claims that this fall “You’ll go into an Apple retail store and be able to walk out with a TV. It’s perfect.”.

Apple has already teamed with a manufacturer (likely Samsung) to build the display, which they will rebrand as their own.  The TV will be powered by iOS and “blow Netflix and all those other guys away”.   It will also run iTunes and support thirds party apps.

Back in February, Apple Posted a job opening for a AC/DC Power Specialist Engineer, who’s duties would include developing power supplies for “standalone displays and TV”.  Apple has always deemed their Apple TV set top box a “hobby”, it looks like it will soon become money maker!

Here’s a video of Steve Jobs introducing the Apple TV set top box in 2006.
