YouTube Live Goes Live

YouTube Live Goes Live

Today, Google rolled out live YouTube channles.  They call the beta service “YouTube Live”.  It will let anyone in world live broadcast their content to anyone in the world!  This is gonna be HUGE.

Right now, only select YouTube users are able to broadcast.  Over time, Google will allow more users live stream their original content.

Anyone can view the live content.  Click here to check it out!  While watching a live stream, you can LOL and OMG with other viewers within a chat window.  You can also subscribe to shows and be notified of upcoming episodes.

From Google’s YouTube blog:

Today we’re announcing the initial roll out of YouTube Live, which will integrate live streaming capabilities and discovery tools directly into the YouTube platform for the first time. This begins with a new YouTube Live browse page (www.youtube.com/live), where you can always find the most compelling live events happening on YouTube and add events to your calendar. Subscribe to your favorite YouTube live-streaming partners to be notified of upcoming live streams on your customized homepage.

It’s pretty obvious, Google is trying to take over TV.  All of us will soon have our own TV channel on YouTube…. That’s a lot of channels!  Google has even provided us with free video editing software so that we can produce quality content.  Here’s the real kicker,  Google is rumored to spend $100 million to produce original content for 20 new YouTube pay channels.  I’d be a little nervous right now if I was a cable company!
