Redbox To Begin Renting Video Games

Redbox just announced that they will begin renting video games at their popular kiosks nationwide.  The rentals will cost just $2 per day, just enough time to rip them (for backup purposes) and stash them on your jail broken console.

Redbox will launch their game rental service on June 17th.  They will offer popular titles for the wii, Xbox 360 and PS3.

From the Press Release:
“Redbox will increase consumers’ access to video game rentals by leveraging our incredible technology and business model to keep rental prices low for consumers,” said Mitch Lowe, president, redbox. “With more than 21,000 redbox locations slated to feature video game rentals alongside movies this June, redbox will be the one-stop shop for entertainment.”

Looks like Redbox hasn’t thrown the towel in yet.  Their kiosk sales have suffered due to the success of Netflix.  In an effort to combat Netflix’s success, Redbox recently partnered with Amazon to build their own streaming movie service.  Now it seems that Redbox will use their game rental service to lure customers from Netflix, who do not offer a similar service.

Here’s a little something to get you ready!
