If you don’t have a Google voice number, stop reading, click here and get one right now! Google voice is a free service and includes many incredible features (see the video below).

Once you have a Google voice number, you can place and receive phone calls within Gmail. To make Gmail calling even more seamless, Google just added a little green phone icon next to each of your contacts.  Simply click on the icon and your contact’s number will appear in Google Voice’s dialer.

Also, If you’ like to call a phone number contained within in an email, you can now simply click on on the number and voila! You’re ready to call.

Since Google voice uses the internet to send and receive calls, no land or cell service is necessary.  A new iOS app, Talkatone takes full advantage of this.  Talkatone lets you make free calls over wifi and 3G using your Google voice number.  Yep, no more worrying about how many minutes you have left!  The app works with iPhone, iPod Touch and even iPad!  I just set it up on my iPad 2, and it works great.  The app is free, check it out!  Talkatone
