iPhone 5: Dual SIM Cards, No NFC, Aluminum Case

Now that all the iPad 2 launch pandemonium is over, it’s time to focus on more juicy iPhone 5 rumors!  Today’s edition, Dual Sim Cards, No NFC and a new aluminum case.  Here we go!

First up, our good friends at iDealsChina claim the iPhone 5 will sport two SIM cards. If this is true, the next generation iPhone will have the ability to run two phone lines at the same time.  Pretty slick, home.. work…one phone, I like it!

For those of you who missed it, iDealsChina recently posted a photo of what they believe is an iPhone 5 bezel.  The bezel is really thin and would allow Apple to increase the size of the iPhone’s screen without increasing the size of the iPhone itself.  Click here to learn more.

All those waiting for “iNFC” may need to wait a little longer.  The Independent is reporting that the iPhone 5 will not have NFC capabilities.  For those who don’t know, NFC is the technology used in swipe and pay credit card systems.  With NFC capabilities, the iPhone could be used as a digital wallet.

According to the Independent, Apple informed UK mobile carriers that the technology just ain’t ready yet.  They claim NFC will make it’s way to the iPhone next year.  From The Independent:

One source close to the discussions said: “The new iPhone will not have NFC, Apple told the operators it was concerned by the lack of a clear standard across the industry.” Yet Apple is understood to be working on its own NFC proposition, which would link payments through iTunes. It hopes to introduce the technology in a handset likely to be released next year.

Makotakara reports that the iPhone 5 will have an aluminum case.  Their source claims that Apple is losing the glass back because it’s heavy scratches easily.  Aluminum is much lighter and can be cast into a unibody structure. Here’s Macotakara’s rendering of how the iphone 5 will look:

The iPhone 5 will likely launch this June or July.  I’m sure a slew of new leaks, photos and rumors are on their way, stay tuned for the latest!
