Amazon Launches A Cloud Based Music Player

Big news for all you Music lovers and Android fans, Amazon has just launched a cloud based music player!

Starting right now, you can log into your Amazon account and start uploading your music to Amazon’s Cloud Drive.  You can play your stored music over the web on on your Mac, PC or Android device with Amazon’s Cloud Player.

Amazon will start you off with 5GB of storage for free.  You can easily upgrade to 20GB of storage by coughing up $20 or purchasing an mp3 album from Amazon’s music store.

From the press release:

“We’re excited to take this leap forward in the digital experience,” said Bill Carr, vice president of Movies and Music at Amazon. “The launch of Cloud Drive, Cloud Player for Web and Cloud Player for Android eliminates the need for constant software updates as well as the use of thumb drives and cables to move and manage music.”

Looks like Amazon beat Apple to the punch on this one. Apple is rumored to launch a revamped MobileMe service very soon. The new MobileMe will likely offer a similar music streaming serivice for the Mac and iOS devices.
