Amazon Prime To Include Unlimited Video Streaming?

Amazon Video

An unlimited video streaming service may soon launch for Amazon Prime members. Last night, Amazon mistakenly slipped the following message on their site:

Your Amazon Prime membership now includes unlimited, commerical-free instant streaming of 5,000 movies and TV shows at no additional cost“.

One user reported the message to Engadget, who posted several screen shots of the new service.  Amazon has since removed any hints of unlimited streaming from their site.

Amazon streaming could be a viable alternative to Netflix.  Amazon Prime membership costs $79 per year (free for anyone with a .edu email), which is cheaper than Netflix’s $8 month ($96 annually) streaming only plan.  Bundling Amazon Prime benefits with an all-you-can-eat-video on demand service may be enough to steer some away from Netflix.
